I was probably like many Naturopaths when I first started out. I thought I could heal the world! However I soon discovered it’s almost impossible to be a ‘jack of all trades’.

It was tricky knowing how to treat all the difficult health issues now troubling people. What to do? Specialising in one area of health was the solution...

With a background as a Personal Trainer I had a love of helping people struggling to lose weight. So this was the direction I went it.

As you have probably discovered for yourself, weight loss is not easily solved by simply reducing calories in and increasing calories out. Being overweight is actually a complex health issue. As a Naturopath I have always treated weight loss with an holistic approach.

Natural weight loss involves all aspects of living well.

It was mainly women who came to see me when I was in private clinical practice. For many they ate well and exercised most days. So what was wrong? They had definite road blocks preventing weight loss.

I found the most powerful factors for these women were hormone imbalances, sluggish thyroid function and poor blood sugar control. Often the ratio of dietary macro-nutrient intake was out of balance; too many carbs, coupled with inadequate intake of good fats and protein.

By treating the underlying health issues and switching the dietary intake of protein/cars/fats around my clients were able to lose weight with less effort than they had ever experienced before. As their health improved it possible to lose body fat and gain important muscle with ease.

It was great to see their results! It boosted their self-confidence and they looked and felt the best they had in many years.

Fast forward a few years... I no longer work in private practice. These days I run my own online health business which includes this website - Natural Weight Loss Programs. This website provides my professional recommendations on natural weight loss to assist you and many others who are struggling to reach their weight loss goals.

As for natural health product development I released ThryoSynergy® in 2011. This has quickly become a top-selling thyroid product in Australia.

My online business has proven to be a steep learning curve. Over the years a lot of the things I tried online turned out to be a total flop. But I didn’t give up. I just kept experimenting and fine-tuning my approach.

I am a constant learner and love reading and researching on natural health. Now, when I am at my computer my time is dedicated to writing and educating on natural health to make a difference to others, even to help promote positive change in our world.

My goal is to reach as many people as possible to spread the message of natural health.

It has been well worth the effort. Every day I have the honour of making a difference to the lives of others.

It gives me such a thrill to hear how one of my e-books, nutritional product or information on a blog has been life-changing.

Professional Bio

Well let's see.. Here is the short version of my professional bio. I'm a registered Australian Naturopath with the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS). This is the leading association of natural medicine practitioners.

I graduated from the Endeavour College of Natural Health located in Brisbane, Australia in 1995. Since then I have worked in diverse and challenging roles within the natural health sector.

This includes working in private clinical practice and roles within the natural health industry which included sales, technical and new product development.

Making Conscious Food Choices

I believe we need to make conscious choices to eat the most vital, nutritious food possible.

It’s hard to feel fully alive when you eat dead, overly processed food. This is definitely the type of food I avoid!

Taking this further, I firmly believe our food choices impact on our genetic potential. Food can either make you sick or vibrantly well.

Emerging genetic research, specifically in the field of ‘nutritional genomics’ adds to this by proving that junk food can literally make you sick at a basic cell level.

For my money, the worst foods and in no particular order are: artificial sweeteners, Canola oil, soybean oil, soy and corn (maize) ingredients and high fructose corn syrup (HFCS).

When it comes to a healthy diet its’ good to stay flexible – I think it’s important not to be dogmatic. Having a rigid state of mind can be just as unhealthy as eating junk food!

Instead discover what healthy foods resonate with you. What foods feel right for you, make you feel GOOD? For me I like the ideas presented in the Paleo Diet and the Body Ecology Diet.

It is a simple way of eating that places emphasis on fresh produce, lean meat and avoiding sugar laden foods and grain based foods.

I also find this approach helps me maintain a healthy weight with little effort. You will notice these dietary concepts are used on my website when I discuss food choices.

Foods I can not do without...

In my kitchen I could not do without raw coconut oil, activated nuts and seeds, fresh seasonal fruit and veggies for juicing, a selection of organic greens and a vegan protein supplement for my daily protein shake concoction.

So Do I Do Things Not Related to Natural Health?

Well, let’s see...

I am more of a small-community rather than a big-city person. I’m also a fan of simple living. For me, that means cutting back on material possessions and ‘life clutter’, and consciously choosing only the things that are really important and spending time with people who are uplifting.

I work when I need to do but also take time out to create a better work/life balance. I think being healthy is about having balance in all aspects of life.

For fun I head outdoors as I feel most alive when I am in nature. I am lucky enough to live by the beach in Australia. I can’t imagine not being able to put my feet in the sand each day. I love hiking in the local area and cycling along the beautiful coastline.

On most Sundays I head to the local farmers market to stock up on a weekly food supply. I like to shop local and I enjoy the community feeling of a local market.

When I get a chance to go on holidays I head to the awe-inspiring mountains of Canada. I love skiing and just being in the mountains. And it does not get any better than places like Whistler, Canada.
